Merton Special Teaching Alliance

National Teaching Shcool

Review of the Year 2015-16

This year, MSTA has reached out to over 300 teachers and teaching assistants, from over 50 schools, across 6 local authorities, including special, primary and mainstream schools.

We have run 13 short, 1 day courses and 6 longer courses (ITP, National Award for Middle Leaders, NaSENCO course, Master level studies, Merton Aspirational Middle Leaders Programme and NVQ level 3, Supporting Teaching and learning).

We have provided training placements for 5 trainee teachers through Kingston, Roehampton, LSBU and St Mary’s Universities and have trained 4 teachers through the School Direct salaried and training routes schemes and recruited all school direct trainees to our schools.

We have provided leadership development, coaching and mentoring to aspiring leaders, mentoring support to those undertaking senior and middle leadership development and have provided a bespoke package of support to leadership teachers in three schools judged RI – with the focus on them moving to ‘good’

We are excited to be making such an impact in our area.

Looking ahead, we are pleased to be offering a programme of courses that staff tell us make a difference. Have a look at our programme here or contact us on teachingschoolbookings@perseid.merton.sch.uk to discuss your specific requirements.
